Tuk Tuk Ride

TUKTUK

Standard issue French named, Japanese powered and Cambodian designed Auto-remorque moto A.K.A Tuk Tuk.

This ingenious vehicle is one of the most original and fascinating combinations ever created. It is ultra reliable, efficient, user-friendly and innovative. Not only can it adapt to almost every single surface, climate and situation but it can also withstand any idiotic driver.

Remorque-motos are basically the front end of a 125-175 cc small motorcycle comprising of steering, tank and engine/gearbox with a covered tray mounted at the back. The power is transferred by chain to an axle mounted to the modified rear fork which drives the two rear wheels. Suspended upon the rear fork is an open cabin with an in-line seat on each side.

WARNING: Tuk Tuk´s can easily role and flip and in doing so can be extremely dangerous. The Cambo Challenge is a difficult event with inherit safety risks - participants must be fully aware that driving a tuk tuk in a foreign country may create potential life-threatening situations. Extreme caution is advised at all times.

Cambo Challenge Format

The Lanka challenge is NOT a Race – it’s a CHALLENGE! The format of the Challenge has been put together in such a way that speed should not be your number one priority. The Lanka Challenge is a combination of timed legs and challenges.
My Leg Time Points + My Challenge Points = My Result (Total Time)
The winning team is determined by the total accumulated Challenge points resulting from timed legs and challenges successfully completed. It's simple - the team with the most points is declared the winner!
On some of the Challenge legs teams may be required to complete certain sections of the legs within certain time frames. The team which completes each timed section of the leg in the shortest possible time and successfully completes applicable challenges will win the leg and wear the notorious yellow sarong and we rock jersey on the following days' leg.
The Lanka Challenge will be broken up into different driving legs (as per the route). Each team will be given a road map book and daily navigational sheet which they must use to navigate from the beginning to end of each leg. Warning – No GPS’s allowed!

Each day there will also be a number of Challenges that will need to be completed by each team. The Challenges will be made out of adventurous, cultural & ecological activities and will involve the local community. In some instances, teams will compete against each other and in others they will need to work together in order to achieve a common goal. In addition to this, teams will also need to successfully complete different picture and video challenges.

The winner of the Cambo Challenge will receive the most prestigious title in the world for one whole year: “Cambo Challenge Champions”. In 2011, Lewis and Liz from “Team Decisive” took home the prestigious title. Hillary and Sara from team "It Tuks-Two" took home the best-dressed prize and the social award was a joint effort awarded to 4 teams (Team Jochelle, Boottukkers, Motherlicious and Bawheids) for their fantastic fund raising efforts.

At this stage, we are unable to confirm the exact prizes for the Cambo Challenge, but rest assured that you will be rewarded.
